Cash as a gift is nice, but it takes zero effort.

You throw money in a card and done. You don’t have to think about the person receiving the gift at all, but on the flip side, they probably won’t think about you either when they spend it.

If you want to give the graduate in your life a gift they will love and love you for giving. Make your gift more memorable with these ideas.

1. Travel accessories– Many new graduates have travel on their mind and would appreciate a new travel bag, journal and travel books. Depending on your budget, this could range from a full luggage set to a small carry-on bag. To be really budget friendly, you could give your graduate a passport cover, travel journal and travel book for one of the places they want to visit.

2. A stack of restaurant gift cards. Dorm food gets old after a while, it would be nice to get a bunch of different restaurant gift cards within walking distance of campus.

3. Campus gear: Sweatshirt, tee shirt, hat, etc. In most cases, students love representing their new school. Any type of campus gear will be greatly appreciated.

4. New tech– There are so many fun gadgets out there to make life easier. Get your graduate an Alexa dot, small portable charger, an e-reader, or wireless headphones. The list could go on and on.

5. Care package. Put together items you know they will need and enjoy.

For a College Essentials Care Package: use a laundry basket and fill with new towels, body wash, lotion, flip flops, toothpaste, gum, cold and flu medicine, pain medicine, laundry detergent, dryer balls and some of their favorite snacks.

I love their ideas for the Surviving Finals Care Package, Taste of Home Care Package, and the Treat Yourself Care Package. You could take any of these lists and tweak them to be the perfect care package for your graduate.

Focus on one of these ideas or combine them.

All of these gift ideas will show your graduate you took the extra effort and they will think about you each time they use one of the items from your gift.

Cheers, Amy
